Chefs vs. Cell Phones by Kristen Kuchar (August 2nd, 2013)

Title:

Remember What's Your Main Goal Going in a Restaurant

First Impression:

My first impression on this article is the competition on how the food looks because when i think of a connection between food and cell phone, i think of people using their cell phones to take a picture of a food that they bought.

"remember why you’re there in the first place."

Reflection Proper:

This article talks about the issue of taking a picture of your food in a restaurant. There are many things we can say in this issue, it might be good to take photos or might not be good. Different people have different opinions about it and here are some. First some chefs are enraged at diners who take photos of their food because it ruins the mood, the experience of dining and it also disturbs other diners. This example is like when we go to an art museum, we are there to appreciate the presence of the painting and it would be very rude or even banned to take pictures of other paintings because it kind of demoralize the painting itself because the artist worked hard for that painting and you will just take a picture and post it and let everyone see. But on another’s perspective it can actually be helpful to restaurants and establishments when people are taking photos of their food because now in the technological age people use smartphones to find places to eat, so when there are good reviews or recommendations to that place more people are going to eat there. We can count post of food as like free adverting. They even say that 90 percent of people find restaurants using their phones and 70 percent says that it is more convenient having online menus rather than people going so restaurants just to look at their menus. I think that this issue is like our society where there are many points of views on what is right or what is wrong, many can agree to it or disagree, and there are some pros and cons in its benefits.

5 Things That I've learned (List down 5 things that you've learned from the article)

1. I learned that even chefs can kick out their own customer when they are not pleased the way they treat the food.

2. I learned that 90 percent of the people today uses smart devices to look for places to eat

3. We should can admire food and take photos of it but we should remember that the reason as to why we buy food is to eat.

4. I learned that there are manners when it comes to phones while eating

5. I learned that there is a Facebook page about banning cellphones from restaurants.

5 Integrative Questions

1. would you agree to banning cellphones in restaurants?

2. What would you do when they kicked you out of a restaurant?

3. Does other people in a restaurant bother you when they take too much photos of food?

4. Are you for or against the argument of the allowing cellphones?

5. Do you have any alternatives i mind to prevent this?
